This method is based on two phases, the first test is a screening immunoassay and the second is to confirm the presence of t he metabolite in the urine over a confirmation technique, the High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). These techniques are used to verify that the dead individual firearm user is either in the form of cocaine hydrochloride (crystalline powder) as th e free base (crack) for a possible relation to the cause of death engagement with drug abuse. According to the results, this method was an excellent efficiency, both in the screening test as confirmatory test. In the immunoassay screening test can detect t he presence of benzoylecgonine in all samples infected with the principal metabolite of cocaine. In confirmation test by HPLC using a mobile phase at a ratio of 63:37 (v / v) phosphate buffer: acetonitrile at pH 2.3 made possible a signal peak at a retention time of 3.467 min for all samples contaminated. The spectrophotometric signal was obtained in an optimized wavelength of 224 nm. We have also obtained in a range from 195 to 350 nm peak purity of the sam ple 1 mg / ml o f 0.8661 to 5 mg /mL was 0.9183, at the concentra tions of 10, 20, 40 and 80 mg/ mL purity of the peaks were 0.9178, 0.8882, 0.8471 and 0.8048 respectively. These urine samples were all pre - analyzed by immunoassay and taken as negative for the presence of BE.
