Uso do ácido acetilsalicílico na prevenção de doenças cardiovasculares.
Abstract
dc:description.abstractCardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death both in developed and developing countries. Many efforts have been made towards the prevention of these diseases and the use of acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) is one such measure. The present work aims to compile updated information on the adoption of pharmacological therapy of aspirin in primary prevention standpoint and / or secondary CVD. The sources used for the development of the work of scientific origin in the areas of Cardiology and Pharmacology, published in the last 13 years. Studies show that aspirin has benefits, at low doses, in primary prevention, and that the benefits outweigh the risks in secondary prevention, reducing cardiovascular morbidity and mortality, and can also be used in secondary prevention of stroke and transient ischemic attack. Aspirin has been considered for many years as the standard antiplatelet secondary prevention of vascular diseases, therefore, their effectiveness is independent of sex or age associated diseases such as diabetes or hypertension. Over time, other antiplatelet agents began to be chosen as a substitute for aspirin or clinical assistants in some cases, but even so, studies have shown that aspirin is the most effective in reducing cardiovascular events and cardiovascular mortality, as well as angina applicant, progression to severe angina, recurrent myocardial infarction and stroke, and can also be used in combination with other antiplatelet agents in order to improve its pharmacological action and reduce their adverse effects. It is clear and unquestionable benefits that the AAS, used in pharmacological therapy with preventive purpose, can bring to those who suffer from CVD.
