Metabólitos produzidos por Streptomyces spp. com atividade antitumoral.
Abstract
dc:description.abstractCancer is a disease with a high mortality rate, which affects millions of people each year around the world and these numbers are increasing steadily, rising costs of hospitalization and treatment. Therefore, it is of great importance the isolation of active substances against cancer from natural sources like soil, which stands bacteria of the genus Streptomyces in the production of bioactive metabolites, used in human and veterinary medicine. The adriamycin, idarubicin, daunorubicin, dactinomycin, retamycin, mitomycin C, antibiotics are commonly used to treat many types of cancers. These drugs must eradicate cancer cells, and the advantages of its use are to be compared with the cardiotoxicity caused mainly to patients undergoing chemotherapy or after treatment. This study aimed to carry out a literature review on the antitumor drugs produced by this genus of bacteria, its operations and its toxic effects, particularly in the myocardium. We used a qualitative exploratory methodology in seeking to become familiar with the research objectives. Antitumor antibiotics act by preventing the replication of the genetic material and multiplication of cancer cells and normal. Thus, the discovery of new molecules from Streptomyces with easy management, direct action on the cells that have changed and with little or negligible side effects is one of the main goals pursued by researchers in the field, helping to improve quality of life patient.
