Avaliação do uso de antimicrobianos a partir de prescrições médicas em unidades de saúde da família.

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

The rampant use of antimicrobials without a careful evaluation of their information and their appropriate dosage can lead to bacterial resistance. Antimicrobial resistance has increased dramatically in recent years. It is essential that rescribers and lay people to avoid unnecessary use of these drugs. Whereas the prevalence of infections and the resulting consumption of medicines to treat them entail many prescription errors, this study looked at 464 requirements issued in the period from July to December 2012, containing antimicrobials RDC 20/2011 and which have been issued by the unified Health System, specifically in integrated family Health Unit New Hope, Health District III of João Pessoa-PB as of prescription standards, use and possible drug interactions. There was no identification of the user name (2.58%) and age (100%). It was noted that antimicrobials are more used for female users (65.5%) and that the most prescribed is amoxicillin 500 mg (33%), followed by amoxicillin 250 mg/5 ml (12%) and cephalexin 500 mg (20%). The professional that more prescribes antimicrobial is the doctor (65.5%), followed by the dentist (16.4%) and nurses (3.5%). There was no identification of the prescriber in prescribing (14.6%), incomplete dosage (23.28%), inappropriate dispensation (100%), drug interactions (24.2%), lack of information such as the route of administration (19%), the pharmaceutical form (19%) and the concentration of the drug (24.12%). It is concluded that prescription and dispensation of antimicrobials are not according to RDC 20/2011, and that these errors are endangering the therapeutic success of treatment with antimicrobials of the users of this basic unit of health. To decrease the error index, it is suggested education of prescribers as well of the users, being the most appropriate professional the pharmacist to perform such activity.
