Until the construction of the Avenue Epitácio Pessoa the coast was occupied only by fishermen colonies and homes, often built, the coconut palms, which, after drying, passed a manual break, and served as both the roof for the walls. This information is documented in some authors. What reassures us the condition of areas cultivated with coconut as the main product of the farms collecting coconut beach. By 1970 the occupation was still on the edge that had scattered the area for recreational purposes, such as the Elite Bar (frequented even by President Getúlio Vargas) at the time located where today stands the Bank of Brazil Avenue Senator Ruy Carneiro. The Bar also offered services to swimmers as the rental truck tire floats and costumes of male and female baths. In recent decades, urban sprawl João Pessoa took an increasingly more and more people to fixate on the beach, in the case of Tambaú. This movement became a beautiful beach before native in a real jumble of concrete blocks: apartments, houses, hotels and commercial premises.
