Aposentadorias rurais: uma economia sem produção relevante nas pequenas cidades do Siridó Ocidental da Paraíba.

This monograph aims to understand the relevance of rural retirement living conditions of the population served and the built environment of the small towns of Western Microrregião Seridó of Paraíba. In recent times, the social problems in rural Brazil have required a greater commitment of governments in addressing social inequalities. The extent of public policies and achievement of social rights to rural areas, have contributed to combat the effects of social vulnerability, especially with regard to poverty. Despite the progress made with the implementation of such policies, it is important to note that rural areas are still suffering from the results from the years of neglect of many governments and public policies ineffective in meeting the demands produced by rural workers who, historically been excluded by the systems of social protection and the promotion of economic growth, causing economic reality of these characters is still characterized by poor infrastructure. For the development of this study was essential to understanding the concept of "economy without production", created by Maia Gomes (2001). According to this author the economy without producing only applies to retirees Semiarid Northeast, because the benefits of this category are an income transfer, which are paid without any requirement for contrast contemporary service production, ie, they do not produce, but appropriate a part of the national income. From the methodological point of view, the survey was developed based on literature surveys, collection of primary data through fieldwork, and secondary via electronic sites, such as the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), the National Security Social (INSS) and the Ministry of Making. The survey allowed us to infer that the rural social security has assumed a leading role in improving the living conditions of the beneficiaries, as well as the socioeconomic dynamics of small towns Microrregião.
