This work resulted from some methodological procedures, such as literature, readings and underlined, collecting secondary and primary data (field research). The State of Paraíba currently has 223 urban centers. Of this total, more than 80% is considered small towns, which are reproducing mainly by small-scale economic activities that ensure the survival of the poor, as occurs in the cities surveyed. The study area consists of six small towns located in the micro Seridó paraibano West, especially the city of Santa Luzia, with the largest number of activities in the sectors of trade and services, as well as populous. Economically, Microregion is rich in minerals that are sold in national and world markets. With work, we came to some findings, among which we can mention: the Western Seridó paraibano most residents have a relatively low income, few employees and a significant proportion is occupied on the lower circuit activity of the economy; circuit that is lower than has offered the poorest people the ability to have income and thus to survive and consume, the built environment of small towns in the study area are not degraded or devalued, but are non-valued, since not even reached be valued; highlight the importance of incomes from government transfers as the scholarship program and family welfare, which add richness to the urban economy and serve as important source of income (primary or secondary) to the poorer classes.","abstract_html":"This study aims to understand the dynamics of the lower circuit of the economy and changes in the built environment of small towns in the West Seridó of Paraíba in the context of contemporary globalization.
