A biodiversidade brasileira: análise de imagens do livro didático de biologia adotado pela Escola Estadual de Ensino Fundamental e Médio Padre Roma – João Pessoa/PB.

This study aims to analyze how the Brazilian biodiversity, through images, has been portrayed in textbooks adopted by Escola Estadual de Ensino Fundamental e Médio Padre Roma in João Pessoa / Pb. Therefore, it was verified the Brazilian legal and regulatory guidelines, such as the Federal Constitution, the LDB Law 9.394/96, Law 9.795/99, about environmental education, among others that contribute to guidance of educational practices of teaching and learning in high school. The choice of this theme arises from the importance to evidence how the Brazilian biodiversity has been portrayed in the images of the textbooks adopted by public schools and to draw attention of educators regarding the use of images in teaching and learning and criteria adopted for the selection of the same. To perform the analysis we used the qualitative research from literature and documentary character, and that, we chose five (05) representative figures, according to the criteria of convenience of the images, identification, consistency with the topics discussed. The work was developed in three (03) chapters: the first chapter deals with biodiversity, the second is about the textbooks and the third describes the used methodology and data analysis. In conclusion, we found the lack of identification of the scientific name of the species and the use, for example, pictures of animals that are not common to Brazilian biodiversity is still a recurring practice.
