The main authors cited in our academic work are Juliana Guedin and Edison Uggioni, and on it we bring a clipping from the origin of the differential and integral calculus and a short discussion about the importance to the use of math’s history in teaching, whether basic or higher. We focus our text in the exhaust and quadratures methods, including the parable’s square and the circle, and after, we traced a parallel between these proposals and historical methods of teaching content on the primary education and high school. Within it lie the present one MEC’s application and a ninth year book of the primary, directed to work the calculation of a circle’s area. We conclude there’s a close connection between them and the first ways of calculating the value of this quantity, which could be used to increase the motivation of students from the Degree in Mathematics on the study of calculus. We also carried out a survey with the teachers and students from the disciplines of Differential and Integral Calculus I from UFPB, with questions about the process of teaching and learn from the discipline and some thoughts on changes that could promote the overcoming of the difficulties noted by which participated in our research.","abstract_html":"Trying to understand the links can be established between the Mathematic that is studied on the college and the other taught during the middle and high school, on this work was given a special attention to the history of mathematics, here conceived as a teaching methodology with a great potential to motivate students to learn math.
