Abstract
dc:description.abstractThis monograph aims present the high school in Brazil. We also show the problems and difficulties faced by high school in Brazil and how our students are being evaluated by observing the results of the third grade of secondary school. We present a characterization ofthe high school in Brazil and Paraíba showing official documents that guide the educationalproposals, like the National Curriculum, National Curriculum Guidelines, Law of Directivesand Bases of National Education System and Assessment of Basic Education. Issues wereseen on the topic of Treatment of Information conducted by SAEB examinations in 2001 and2009. This was possible to evaluate this final stage of basic education and indicate the statusof the degree of knowledge of our students on the subject. We evidenced that the studentsleave high school unable to build basic math skills to read and interpret graphs and tables ofdouble entry, and gather information on them presented a correct solution to the issues thatdeal with the issue of Information Processing. We observed according SAEB results that highschool students showed no improvement between the years 2001 and 2009, remaining tight,presented different degrees of complexity. Fundamental concepts at this level of educationthat should already be present in the lives of students because they are attending the finalseries of the last stage of basic education, few were built, many were not built, and others are under construction. We see that a low percentage of our students, or approximately 6%, are atthe appropriate level at which graduates are expected for this level of education. Thus,education professionals, parents, students, end-all of society must seek solutions aimed atimproving the education system in Brazil.
