Tratamento da informação: uma proposta metodológica para o ensino de tabelas e gráficos.

The objective of this research was to investigate the learning difficulties of students in the 6th grade of elementary school, with regard to the study on data processing, especially, tables and graphs. Thus, the study was based on a methodology developed in an intervention class in 6th grade at a school in Municipal Schools in the city of Sao Jose Dos Ramos - PB. According Wodewotzki & Jacobini (2005) the teaching of statistics is justified, because through statistical development has its own way of organizing and analyzing information. The research had the main stage to the preparation and development of educational activities. The intervention was conducted with methodological implementation of activities aimed at contributing to the reading and interpretation of data presented in tables and graphs, and data organization. With the implementation of the activities we observed students' difficulties with respect to reading and interpreting the data presented in tables and graphs in newspapers and magazines, as well as the difficulties in handling the measuring instruments - ruler, compass and protractor. After the intervention found that the subjects have evolved regarding the relationship of reading and interpreting the data presented in tables and graphs and handling of measuring instruments.
