A UTILIZAÇAO DO LIVRO DIDÁTICO NO ENSINO DE BIOLOGIA EM TURMAS DO ENSINO MÉDIO NA EJA

This study comprised how Biology teachers use textbooks (LD) in the teaching-learning process of Biology in high school classes in Youth and Adult Education (EJA) as well as it identified the textbooks/materials that are used by the teachers; also, it approached which methods they use to teach classes, and it identified/analyzed the teachers' perception about the use of the textbook. This research is theoretically based on the following authors: Oliveira (2013), Brazil (2014), Freire (2011, 2014). The data collection instruments used were non-participant observation in one of the classes, and a semi-structured interview with the teachers. Based on the data obtained, it was found that the Biology teachers of the EJA use specific textbooks for this modality, being the textbooks from the collection "Living and Learning" and "Education and Diversity". Another resource mentioned by the teachers was the regular teaching textbooks, which are used to plan classes and to produce alternative materials, as they report that the specific textbooks for the EJA teaching modality have insufficiency/limitations of contents regarding to Biology. Therefore, we evidenced that in order to cover the needs of the EJA textbooks, the teachers develop new teaching materials to their classes, and the teachers consider these materials better elaborated in terms of content. The materials produced by the teachers are text summaries, handouts or workbooks with selected contents, which aim to meet the students' real educational needs. This teacher action is a transposition of the knowledge for the learners, that is organized in a more planned and simplified way, differently from how it is in the textbooks.
