A COR DA PÓS-GRADUAÇÃO DO CCA/UFPB: UM ESTUDO SOBRE AS QUESTÕES ETNICAS E PRECONCEITO

In Brazil, there are still many prejudices about the african-Brazilian community. Our society is permeated by the culture and ideology brought by Portuguese colonialism, this demonstrates a prevailing white domination until the present day in different social segments, even after the end of slavery in 1888. Discrimination and racial prejudice are worldwide problems, this are principles to construct the base of the concept "racial democracy." Fight against and deconstruction of prejudice are daily struggles of various segments of society. Various social movements groups engaged in the struggle to reduce racism in the recent decades. To promote the reduction of racial prejudice in Brazil, affirmative actions have been implemented, which are activities and opportunities suggested for groups that have suffered racial inequality for long historical periods. This work is the result of a quanti-qualitative nature research, and aims to examine whether there are discriminatory relationships within the II, Campus of UFPB, in the postgraduate segment; to see how the masters declare themselves about their ethnic or racial profile and to observe what kind of measures are taken to eradicate racial prejudice in the II Campus. The survey was conducted between September 2016 and October 2016, and postgraduate students from the Campus attended the research. The data allowed us to state that racial ethnic theme has gained space in discussions within of Brazilian society, and specifically within the Center for Agricultural Science/UFPB it takes more effort to overthrow the barriers created by racial prejudice. There is still much to be done so that the academy could be a more sensitized environment and adept at accepting the diversity and appreciation of the Afro-Brazilian culture.
