Internationalizing, or expanding their businesses towards foreign countries is one of these ways. Concurrently, scientific research has increased in order to investigate this process. This research paper aims to make a comparative analysis between Internationalization research characteristics published from 2002 to 2011, in qualified Business periodicals published in Brazil and abroad. Therefore, a quantitative descriptive literature review was performed under a bibliometric perspective in three national periodicals and three international periodicals sorted from the highest Qualis/CAPES classifications. Throughout descriptive research, the main characteristics of the articles in Internationalization were mapped and classified, such as: research types, most influential works, theories and periodical titles. As a result, it was evidenced that the most commonly used research type was qualitative, the most influential works are the ones from Johanson J. with Vahlne J. E. and Wiedersheim-Paul F. as co-authors, published in the years 1977 and 1975, respectively. The most cited theory by the articles analyzed was the Uppsala model and the most influential periodical title was the Journal of International Business Studies.","abstract_html":"Competition leads businesses to seek out ways to promote their long-term survival.
