Inclusão de pessoas com deficiência intelectual em atividades laborais da UFPB: análise de um projeto de extensão em busca do empoderamento e da autonomia

This study aims to analyze the inclusion of young people with intellectual disabilities in work activities in UFPB contributes (or not) to the process of empowerment in their lives. Faced with a reality of prejudice and discrimination that mark the lives of people with disabilities and, significantly, those with intellectual disabilities, to facilitate access to the labor market and have them in a suitable and favorable environment, contribute substantially to the empowerment and social participation of these. So check this contribution possible through the work environment and their role in society, it is essential, because we treat people who have different skills and be some areas of society where their inclusion is still limited. The nature of this monograph is a qualitative research, conducted through semi-structured interviews and observations of records made in the workplace, monitoring and monitoring, observation and interview. The research was carried out with two young project "Empowering to Grow", the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB), which aims to create opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities work in the labor market. In addition, information was collected with their family members and institutions aimed at assisting the poor. In the end, it was found that before a reality of exclusion and prejudice on the part of society, beginning with the family, it is essential to establish and offer a dialogue, education and resources that promote intellectual development, empowerment, inclusion and gradual participation these people in the social spaces. Characteristics that favor the empowerment of these young people come and do happen, so that they get opportunities in appropriate environments, and realize the respect and their rights being met.
