Analfabetismo funcional em matemática no ensino médio: o caso do município de Itaporanga

This research presents a qualitative study developed in two public schools Normal School Teacher Francelino Neves de Alencar and the School of Elementary and Secondary Education Adalgisa Teódulo da Fonseca, the city of Itaporanga in Paraiba. The objective of this study was to analyze how students of final year high school solve mathematical situations involving the concepts of the four basic operations. To enrich this search and learn more about the subject, we analyzed the PCN, OCEM, LDB and national assessment programs, IDEB, Eném, INAF, as well as some theoretical ideas. We apply a semi-structured questionnaire as a tool for collecting and analyzing data. Detected with it the difficulties presented by the students and the level of learning is that each one, checking the existence of functional illiteracy in mathematics. We recognize that it takes more thought about what is being transmitted to students in mathematics classes, what they are able to understand and use practices in their school and their daily lives, that the basic contents are of significant importance for the construction of new knowledge. Therefore, they should be investigated and dealt with the proposed activities in the classroom so that students can use to build their learning consciously, realizing its importance, in order to outline their goals for the future, because they can interfere with reality to transform it.
