Formação acadêmica em Ciências Contábeis e sua relação com o mercado de trabalho: a percepção dos alunos de Ciências Contábeis da UFPB

The market proves to be increasingly picky about the skills and competencies that accounting professionals must have in order to carry out their activities. The objective of this research was to understand the perceptions of students of Accounting at Federal University of Paraíba – UFPB, as the academic education they are receiving professional training and who understand have to enter the labor market. The research involved 105 students who were attending the 7th and 8th day periods and 9 and 10 nighttime periods of Accounting Course at UFPB. The methodology used was based on exploratory qualitative research and descriptive research with quantitative approach through literature searches and questionnaire. Variables investigated relate to the student's profile, professional requirements in relation to market demands, skills required and perception of students on academic education they are receiving and their preparation for entering the job market. It was observed that students, mostly not regularly participate in extracurricular activities such as conferences, seminars and lectures, do not indicate the degree of total agreement that are acquiring the necessary skills to enter and operate in the market, and so more incisive, reveal disagreement regarding the suitability of the curriculum of the course UFPB the formation of the current counter. It is concluded that the HEI should prioritize the development of competencies, skills, values that ensure students employability conditions.
