O que pensam os professores de matemática do município de Itaporanga-PB sobre o uso da calculadora em sala de aula

Throughout the research, we analyze the perception of mathematics teachers from Itaporanga-PB concerning the use of the calculator in the classroom. We applied a questionnaire to the teachers who teach Mathematics in the Final Years of Elementary and Secondary Education, belonging to public schools in order to know the opinion regarding the use of the calculator as a teaching tool in mathematics classes and check if teachers are aware of the importance of using the calculator in the classroom. This is a field research, qualitative in nature. The data collection instrument, as noted, was a questionnaire. This methodological approach, aligned with the theoretical references, allowed to present reflections on the research problem. The analysis upon the data from the field research were based on the theoretical frameworks of REMA (2009); MEDEIROS (2004); MUSTACHE (1998); MAMEDE (2001), among others. We conclude from these studies that is essential for teachers, who are research subjects, to rethink about their conceptions and practices regarding the use of the calculator in the classroom so that they acquire a new insight into these concepts and practices on the instrument in focus and, from this new perspective, they may contribute mainly to the development and construction of learning, making the process of teaching and learning effective and productive.
