AVALIAÇÃO DA AGREGAÇÃO PLAQUETÁRIA EM GATOS AMBIENTADOS E NÃO AMBIENTADOS, COMPARANDO OS ANTICOAGULANTES CITRATO DE SÓDIO 3,2% E EDTA E DIFERENTES MÉTODOS DE CONTAGEM DE PLAQUETAS

The hemogram is the most required laboratory examination in the veterinary clinical routine. Through it it‟s possible to obtain important informations about the health condition of the pacients, including about the platelets. Cat‟s are a very particular species, both behavorial and biological, and is extremely important that the veterinary knows that particularities in order to avoid failure in the diagnosis. Both blood collection and the anticoagulant choice can interfers in platelet counts. It was as collected two mL of blood from de jugular vein from two distinct groups, each one composed by ten healthy cats with no distinction of gender, age or race, one under pre collection aclimatation and the other one without it. One mL was setted in a sodium citrate 3.2% vacuotainer and the other one in an EDTA vacuotainer. The aclimatation was performed for one hour under the effect of a facial pheromone (Feliway®- Ceva Saúde Animal Ltda – Paulínia-SP). Both blood samples was processed and the platelets was counted in automatic and manual methods in Neubauer chambers and blood smear estimation. There was significant difference between the EDTA and sodium citrate aggregation (P = 0.0013), and the correlation between the automatic counting and the blood smear counting had a significant difference (Wilcoxon test: P = 0.0006104; t test: P = 0.02314). The aclimatation versus non-aclimatation, the automatic counting versus chamber counting and the chamber counting versus the blood smear counting has shown no significant difference.
