Six cats were used and had received the two treatments within a 5 days minimum interval. The heart rate (HR), respiratory rate (RR), systolic blood pressure (SBP), capillary refill time (CRT), Response to manipulation and globular volume (GV) evaluation was carried out at M0 (before drug application), M1 (20 min), M2 (40 min), M3 (60 min), M4 (180 min) and M5 (360 min). The sedation was similar between both groups. The HR, RR, CRT, SBP, Response to manipulation and GV have not showed significant difference between the groups, however SBP and GV, in intramuscular group (IM), had relevant differences between the moments. Based on the results of this study we concluded that the use of acepromazine through pharmacopuncture, at the yin-tang point, is a good alternative to be utilized in the clinical routine since it provides a degree of sedation similar to the conventional dose by the intramuscular administration, without significant changes in the complete blood count and systolic blood pressure and may be recommended for use in feline blood donors.","abstract_html":"This work aimed to evaluate the cardiorespiratory parameters and globular volume in cats treated with acepromazine through pharmacopuncture in comparison to the conventional dose by intramuscular administration.
