Cooperativas de crédito: mapeamento das características demográficas , gerenciais e financeiras na região Nordeste do Brasil

Credit cooperatives have as one of their main characteristics reach in municipalities of the interior of the country where large commercial banks have no interest in acting, which potentially qualifies these societies as important agents of social and economic development. The objective of this study is to outline the demographic, managerial and financial characteristics of credit cooperatives participating in a system that operates in the Northeast region of Brazil in the period from 2013 to 2016. This study employs a descriptive research strategy and represents the sample group of 18 credit cooperatives, being 1 central cooperative and 17 singular cooperatives. The cooperatives studied represent 52% of the cooperatives affiliated to the two largest systems in Brazil. In the period under review, the movement of R $ 1,782,358,483.26 was identified in financial assets, and this amount allowed the granting of 260,847 loans and 5,348 financing. These numbers also represent the growth generated for the communities where cooperatives operate.
