Catalogação do acervo xilográfico do Programa de Pesquisa em Literatura Popular (PPLP): do manual ao virual

Woodcut is an ancestral technique which resists to the time and is renewed. It can be considered as a way of artistic expression that is being revalorized and that is conquering its space. Also, woodcut is part of popular culture and it is intrinsically linked to chapbook. In this context, the present research was developed with woodcuts of the collection of the Research Program in Popular Literature of the Federal University of Paraíba (PPLP/UFPB). Its main objective is to create a virtual catalogue and make it available at PPLP blog, in order to give visibility to the collection. Hence, the following kinds of research were established as methodological procedure: descriptive, documentary and action research. Based on this proposition, it was developed the data collection, which was a work of organization, cataloging (according to the Anglo-American Cataloging Code (AACR2), and digitalization to the construction of the virtual catalogue at PPLP blog. The virtual catalogue of woodcut of PPLP is an important tool which facilitates the recuperation of the referred collection from the Internet, propitiating the access to any person or researcher of popular culture. Moreover, it is highlighted the importance in relation to the patrimony preservation of UFPB, because it is divulgating this kind of art at global level, once there are few libraries in the world that contemplate this kind of collection.
