Exportações paraibanas e o perfil das empresas exportadoras entre o período de 2000 a 2013

The Paraíba exports contributed, on average, with 0.12% of total Brazilian exports between 2000-2013. In general, the evolution of the trade balance has been showing consecutive deficits since the global financial crisis around the years 2007 and 2008. This research is to draw objective profile of comparative advantages of Paraíba exports between the period 2000-2013, noting that the main problems faced by the largest exporters of the State. This research is both quantitative and qualitative, and it was conducted by applying a semi -structured questionnaire over an average period of two years in Paraíba exporters companies. The final sample totaled 30 exporting companies and the results point to companies with a traditionalist profile and closely held. The state's exports are concentrated in a few municipalities and few companies. The main municipalities with export activity are also importers such as João Pessoa, Campina Grande, Santa Rita, Bayeux, Mamanguape and Pedras de Fogo. The volume of export between the observed period proved to be very sensitive to external shocks given the dependence of some trading partners. The main export sectors are textiles, sugarcane, shoes, sisal and mining. We notice also that many businesses have closed, others reduced the exporter pace due to low government incentives and the financial crisis of 2008 was one of the impact factors in the export performance of the state.
