Exportações paraibanas entre 2000 e 2013: estudo de determinantes de vantagens comparativas relevadas

Participation in external trade is one of the main reasons of the growth of a region. This work aims identify the comparative advantage from Paraíba trade during the year of 2000 untill 2013. The specific aim is to develop an econometric model for determination of advantages gotten by State, and study the currency impact and external trade income in Paraíba. The Balassa method (1965 and 1979) and ordinary least squares (OLS) method were used to obtain the comparative advantage index and to estimate the econometric model, respectivally. The trade flow was analysed by Grubel-Lloyd índex. Data were obtained from Aliceweb system, owned Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade and from IPEADATA. It was identified that the most exported products by state had greatest comparative advantage, except group of Stone work, ceramics, glasses, etc. Those who obtained comparative advantage showed inverted signals and greater elasticity from real exchange rate, but its parameters was inefficient
