Análise dos indicadores socieconômicos da Paraíba no período de 1996 a 2011

This monograph has as main objective to analyze the behavior of the socioeconomic indicators of Paraíba in the period 1996-2011. The specific objectives are to analyze the behavior of socioeconomic indicators of Paraíba in relation to Brazilian regions, the states that make up the Northeast and the best states of each region in 2011. The study made use of the information contained in the PNAD in the period 1996-2011. Indicators of illiteracy, educational average Gini index of human capital and income, educational transition matrix and index persistence of low education were estimated. It was found that the rate of illiteracy in the state of Paraíba followed a downward trend over the years, but the state remained in the same starting position (6th place), for the states that make up the Northeast. Already the average education of Paraíba state increased from 1996 to 2011, however, below the average education of all states in the Northeast. The human capital inequality has decreased over the years, but less than all Northeastern State from 1996 to 2011. Income inequality also declined in the same period of the study, but the Paraíba reduced less than all Brazilian regions. Regarding the persistence index, it was verified that the Paraiba displays the greater persistence of low education, parent and child, compared to the Brazilian regions and the second compared to the northeastern states, and the state with the second lowest reduction persistence.
