In 2006, about 35,2% of Brazilian workers had higher education required by the job (sobreeducados) while 40,2% of workers had less education than required for the occupation (subeducados), with only 24,6% of workers who had schooling compatible with the same job. Thus, the aim of this work is to investigate the evolution of this (in) compatibility over the years . For this analysis , data were collected from the Monthly Employment Survey (PME), issued by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), during the period from 2006 to 2011 in six metropolitan areas in Brazil (Recife Salvador, Belo Horizonte, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Porto Alegre) . Evidence indicates an increase in the number of workers with higher than required by the activity they perform, and from the year 2010 the percentage of these workers than the workers with less skill than that required by the position they hold (38,4% compared to 35,9%). Despite this positive impact, the uneducation still was high , indicating the need for greater investment in public education.","abstract_html":"In Brazil we observe the (in) compatibility between the schooling of workers and that required for filling the post.
