Desenvolvimento econômico local: o caso do município de Livramento-PB

This work, aimed to analyze the characteristics of the economic and social development of the city of Livramento-PB. Therefore, analyzers were indicators of economic activity and the labor market, such as training the labor force by education, sex and income. Moreover, it was also carried out field research with interviews with key managers of the municipality. Through interviews it was possible to obtain important information about the strategies that municipal management has done to improve the quality of life of the population. Data were collected from Censuses provided by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics, and the choice of the managers interviewed was made by their respective functions in municipal planning. The results show that Livramento has many economic and social problems, with little diversification of production and concern in relation to the labor market, as the high degree of informality in the city. The municipal administration has prioritized the area of education and realized building projects of local culture and family agriculture, aiming to achieve, especially young people. Besides the issue of family farming, do not see much encouragement of public management to production in the city, and as the location is not a major highlight in production, the city collection is very low, making it even more dependent on transfers from governments federal and state, which ends up being an obstacle to realization of local development strategies.
