Gestão democrática e o papel do conselho escolar: um estudo de caso numa escola pública de João Pessoa - PB

The present work of Course Completion - TCC had as general objective to investigate how the School Council of the Municipal School of Elementary School Writer Luiz Augusto Crispim located in the municipality of João Pessoa. The research is justified by the interest of knowing the unfolding of a democratic management for the improvement of the education where the school is inserted. As a problem, the following question is presented: who will be responsible for promoting the awareness of all the members of the school community, to the extent of knowing their role in contributing to critical discussions about the reality of the school and proposing solutions? The theoretical foundation explains the history of Democratic Management in public schools in Brazil. In order to bring these discussions to this TCC, theoretical reflections of Lück (2010), Libâneo (2001), Oliveira (1997 and 2010), Ferreira (2009), Melo (2009) and Paro Cury (2009) and Veiga (2007). This research is characterized as a case study, in a public school in João Pessoa. The analysis of the data was based on a semistructured interview with the general manager of the institution, who is a member of the School Board. Finally, after collecting and analyzing the data, it was possible to conclude that the general manager emphasized the importance of school management always adopting a leadership position, which is one of the foundations of democratic management and this contributes to the involvement of local and school community . He also underscored the lack of interest of the school's internal and external community to participate actively in the School Board and with the school's issues and that it was the role of the School Board, as school management attempted to change this reality.
