So this is an exploratory study based on literature review and field research. Due to the creation of public spaces, enabling a more democratic and participatory governance, issues such as political participation and citizenship are, in most cases , at the center of discussions involving the search for an increasingly participatory democracy. Accordingly, the inclusion of participatory spaces in the Brazilian public management requires special attention. After all, these spaces are the result of a democratization process of civil society, and the struggle of people for their rights. Participatory budgeting is a case study of the outcome of these struggles, the possibility of direct contact and dialogue with the government, as research has brought about positive results of political participation and education.
