Logística brasileira: um estudo teórico do modal ferroviário

This paper presents a study of the Brazilian railways, showing its structure, prospects and limitations, featuring performance / growth and main remaining obstacles. It starts with a brief history of railways in Brazil; a characterization of other modes comprising the Brazilian transport matrix; the importance of a railway system for the Brazilian logistics and, as a result, by using a quantitative and literature applied research, in a preset period, conclude that even after the privatization of the railways and the latest injection of funds, both public and private, for the industry, we are still far from meeting the freight transport demands in Brazil in order to give the necessary impetus towards the much desired development. As a result, has been well characterized that after the privatization which took place in the late 1990s, a leap in quality and quantity of rail transport due initially to private investment arising from concessions and more recently the investments announced by the Federal Government transport infrastructure. However, this growth only will result in effective occupation of the country, with emphasis on North and Midwest, with the effective allocation of resources envisaged in the PNLT. The implementation of the North-South railway, the new Transnordestina, a railway East-West integration, Midwestern railroad and Ferronorte are fundamental works for the development of the various regions of Brazil, in that it will directly influence the economic development of same, favoring the circulation of national wealth. There is a consistent effort to reduce bottlenecks in the rail sector, such as invasion of the railroad rights of way, excess intersections of railways with roads and highways, the proposal for a new regulatory framework for the sector, since the current It is lagged the reality of rail transport in Brazil and, finally, it was evident the absence in the plans in place an essential aspect is the integration of modes: multimodality.
