The study carried out indicated that religious beliefs and practices can, not only lead to an encounter with the sacred, but also, through faith, give those who search for it hope that the illness they are afflicted with will be cured. The methodology used in this study was a bibliographic research with a qualitative aproach supported by the pieces chosen for it.
