Based on the survey of actions taken by government agencies and civil society, we will analyze (the) protective measures available to women victims of violence in João Pessoa and what are the services offered to them. The importance of the issue was set up in data collection and preliminary information about the subject, showing the seriousness and relevance of the problem to the field of public policies, especially in João Pessoa and in the state of Paraíba, where the indicators are alarming with regard to violence against women (Garcia, 2013; WAISELFISZ, 2012). In studies on femicide, for example, wich the violence results in the victim's death, ultimate expression of violence against women, Paraiba reached the eighth position in the national ranking, with 6.99 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, the fourth largest rate among the northeastern states (Garcia, 2013). It is, therefore, a clear social problem, with multiple determinations, requiring public policies and active protective actions to support victims of violence.
