The alcohol because it is a psychoactive substance marketing affordable and have a different concept of the other substances, contributes to its overuse. Alcoholism is considered a public health problem, since it involves family relationships, consequently involving persons other than the alcoholic. This compulsion affects the economy, labor relations and socialization. This study is descriptive and exploratory, developed a qualitative approach, conducted in the state of Paraiba, in the municipality of Cabedelo. The research was conducted from December 2014 to July 2015. Data collection took place in March 2015. The survey aimed to describe the areas of occupational performance (labor and social participation), the alcoholics users attended at CAPS AD Spring Cabedelo, before alcohol abuse and the repercussions of this fact in their daily lives and their living conditions; Unveiling the areas of occupational performance (labor and social participation), the alcoholics users attended at the CAPS AD Spring Cabedelo, after the alcohol abuse and the repercussions of this fact in their daily lives and their living conditions; Identify the concepts of users attended at the CAPS AD Spring Cabedelo, in relation to the opinions of your family living, about their areas of occupational performance (labor and social participation), before and after the alcohol abuse. To collect the information prepared is a semi-structured interview. The participants were 10 alcoholics male users. The inclusion criteria for the study, the following aspects were considered: being in treatment in CAPS AD for at least one year; present age range of 20 to 60 years of age; accept participate and allow recording of the interview. With regard to the exclusion criteria were considered the situations in which the user does not accept the study, or when some of the established inclusion criteria were not met. The ethical principles met up as recommended by Resolution 466/2012 of the National Health Council (CNS, 2013). We used the method of content analysis according to Minayo (2008). The research results indicated that the members maintained a routine work before making abusive use of alcohol, had stable family relationships and active social participation. Because of the abuse of alcohol, they stressed losses in the spheres of work, family life and social participation. The study revealed that there are many negative consequences arising from alcohol abuse in the lives of users, with significant losses in their daily lives, with significant impact on their family and social relations and in different aspects of their lives.
