The prognosis will depend on the appropriate measures used after trauma, especially in cases of tooth avulsion. The present study aims to conduct a study to review the literature on the various aspects of dental avulsion. The survey was conducted through a literature of the period 1978-2014, in books and various national and international journals, with clinical articles, research studies and literature review. At the end of this review we found that tooth avulsion despite not being the most prevalent type of trauma, is what has the greatest harm to the patient, being children and adolescent males more affected. Several reasons interfere with successful reimplantation, with the extra-alveolar time the primary factor for a good prognosis. It was observed that the HBSS and ViaSpan are the best means of storage of avulsed elements, being the most suitable for accessibility, milk, saline and saliva. Root canal treatment is a way to prevent or reduce the possible complications, the most frequent root resorptions. It could be perceived that the knowledge of health professionals and the general public about the subject is still very deficient","abstract_html":"The dentoalveolar injuries are common in children and adolescents, affecting the teeth, the surrounding soft tissues and supporting structures.
