The research population were students from different periods of Occupational Therapy course at the Federal University of Paraíba. Data collection took place in two moments: the first was held through an electronic questionnaire with structured questions and Sleep Quality Index in Pittsburgh (PSQI-BR), sent to students via the Internet. In the second moment it conducted a focus group with six students from different periods, selected at random. As this is a qualitative and quantitative research, data collected through the questionnaire and the Sleep Quality Index Pittsburgh (PSQI-BR) were statistically analyzed using the total sample (n = 110), processed through Microsoft Excel 2013. The analysis of data collected through the focus group was held in a simple descriptive manner. We found, using the global PSQI score-BR that 56.96% of the students presented bad sleep quality on the previous month and 40.51% presented sleep disorder. These data when associated with perceptions of students through focus group strengthen this result. Therefore, for thore students, the pattern of sleep interferes on their work performance mainly in activities relating to education, leisure and social participation.","abstract_html":"This work entitled "Sleep and academic life: implications for the daily lives of students" aimed to evaluate the influence of sleep quality in college students daily life and their perception about the impact on their work performance.
