Vitória na guerra: o caso da segunda guerra do Líbano

The victory in the second Lebanon war is difficult to measure only with the success obtained in battle. How to recognize victory in an environment where conflict is not based on conventional warfare? This paper aims to identify if it is possible to affirm the occurrence of victory in the Lebanon-Israeli conflict. Throughout the text, we try to elaborate further on the concept of victory. The conceptual concern is that literature is usually more concerned with how to win the war, thus forgetting how to consider the success it has achieved. That is why it must be taken into account in these studies what war actually is in order to be able to understand the result of it: the victory. First, studies on victory in war must be approached while defining types of victory and how they can be recognized. Secondly, the Second Lebanon War (2006) is addressed, taking into consideration how it takes its interests and how the conflict comes to an end, trying to better illustrate how the relationship of means to achieve victory from an Israeli point of view occurred. Finally, there will be an attempt to apply what is known as a victory within the case in order to infer whether or not there was a victory in that conflict and what kind of victory happened.
