This moment can be experienced with suffering and loss or as an opportunity to experience new occupational activities or resumption of meaningful activities. There are few studies that investigated how is this process of occupational transition. This study aims to understand how the elderly perceive the process of occupational transition from work to retirement and its implications in daily life and your health. It is a descriptive and exploratory study, contemplating a qualitative approach. The participants were eight elderly men and women, retired. Data were collected through a semi-structured interview and analyzed used content analysis. This research brings as a result the work is considered an occupation of paramount importance in their lives, so that even after retirement, work remains one of the many daily reorganizing. The work is the possibility of (re) integration and generates feelings of use to them.
