Práticas integrativas e populares de cuidado, seus processos educativos e comunitários: sistematização da experiência de Palmira Sérgio Lopes

Popular practices of health care present an important cultural scenario in society. Since ancient times to modern days, mankind have been learning to interact with nature to satisfy their needs in health care, and those knowledge were developed to be as much empiric as it is scientific, being spread to all humanity. However, those practices have been increasingly losing it's way due to overvaluation of modern pharmacology and medicine's modern practices as ways of health care, especially those guided by a Cartesian perspective. This research comes with the objective of reconstitute the history of the popular educator Palmira Sergio Lopes, through life's history and documental research's methodology, systematizing some of the ancient knowledge that she carries with her and shares daily with other people. Palmira is one of the main references to popular health care in Paraíba, being one of the co-founders of the Popular Health Movement (MOPS-PB). Through her work with medicinal plants, educational initiatives, resistance and confrontation acts in defense of public health, it's quality and the valorization of these ancestral practices as strategies of health care. From the narrative of Palmira's history we came to realize that there is a diversity of popular practics in health care that allows empowering and auto management both individual and collective, especially in the most marginalized groups of society with less and less access to public services.
