Abstract
dc:description.abstractThis paper tries to reflect on the Occupational Justice in Prison Re-education Female Maria Julia Maranhão (PRFMJM) and aims to understand how the right place and the engagement at/in occupations among women deprived of freedom of this prison; as well as knowing their life stories and occupational history; and to understand how the realization of occupations within the PRFMJM. Were used as instruments for collecting data participant observation, document research, field diary and semi-structured interviews, analyzed according to the analysis of technical content that aims to test hypotheses and/or issues and find out what's beyond the our contents. In this sense, the interpretation of the data obtained was compared with the literature concerning the matter, being grounded by occupational justice. Through the data, it was observed that many factors, such as social vulnerability, the influence of the companion and the very choice of participating in a criminal action, may be related to entry into the crime and the consequent situation of private living freedom. Deprivation of roles, choices, desires and even the development and demonstration of the identity of those women, in addition to deprivation of movement was evident; and the meaning of being prey to them, referred, in general, the sense of loss. As for the expressed desires, there is the desire to be with family and caring for children, as well as power-related desires, self-care, leisure and professionalism; which shows that their wishes and views pursue a path based on occupational justice, in others words, a way that they can be and carry out activities of interest and desire, even within the institutional limits. Provide study and professionalization proved to be a way to make incarcerated one period of change and personal development for a different future. Thus, it was concluded that, by depriving the freedom of those women also deprives up of their wants, needs and participation in occupations that are meaningful to them.
