The experiment was carried out in the cattle breeding sector, at the Agrarian Sciences Center of the Federal University of Paraíba, from February to May 2015, with a duration of three months. The experiment was divided into five periods of milk collection, with 20 days each, 15 days for adaptation of the diet and five days for milk collection, totaling 100 days of experiment. The diet offered was composed of bulky and concentrated, these cows received corn silage as the bulk and concentrate composed of milled sorghum, milled corn, soybean meal, wheat bran urea and 0.18 kg of mineral mixture (Bovigold ®). The tannic acid in the predetermined proportions was mixed to the concentrate on the day prior to delivery to the trough, the concentrate was offered separate from the bulk in an attempt to ensure the total consumption of the tannic acid contained in the concentrate. The design used was the Latin square with five treatments and five periods. Milk analysis was performed at CCA UFPB using the ecomilk apparatus. With the increase in the levels of tannic acid in the diet the milk production decreased (P <0.05), that is, presented a linear decreasing behavior. However, it did not change the composition of the milk, continuing within the standard established by N62. In this context, although milk production decreased with increasing tannin levels in the diet, it was not enough to change the milk composition.","abstract_html":"The objective of this study was to evaluate the milk production and quality of primiparous cows with the addition of increasing levels of tannic acid in the diet.
