Entre demandas e desejos: necessidades informacionais de jornalistas no cenário de jornais paraibanos

Studies on journalists, while information users are scarce in Brazil. In spite of these professionals have as object of work information, the literature indicates that the study of their needs, use, access, barriers etc., has awakened the interest of researchers to explore this theme. This research aims to analyze the information needs of journalists working in Jornal da Paraiba, Correio da Paraíba, G1 Paraíba and A União. Characterized as exploratory and descriptive, uses qualitative and quantitative approaches. It used as a tool for data collection, the questionnaire. The results indicate that: the actors, in its vast majority, belong to female sex; the prevailing group age range between 26 and 35 years old; they use more intensively the following sources of information: Official, Institutional, Testimonial, Specialized and Internet; they seek more often digital information material to the production of news. The results also reveal that they consider restriction to information the main barrier / obstacle faced. Credibility and public interest are the criteria that they most use for selecting information. There is unanimity bout the influence of information technology in changing the informational behavior, notably with regard to information seeking behavior.
