Pinkwashing, a term coined by the gay movement against the occupation of Palestinian territories, is a pro-LGBT Israeli propaganda strategy that aims to emphasize Israel’s modernity and diversity, consequently attracting international empathy and degrading Palestine’s image as a radical and homophobic community. The present research offers an analysis on this aspect of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, located within the greater spectrum of Western modernity opposed to Eastern ‘barbarism’, an opposition marked by the instrumentalization of LGBT rights. Here, Palestinian queer/anticolonial struggle and its international solidarity against pinkwashing is positively highlighted. A post-modernist and postcolonial theoretical framework was chosen, given that International Relations mainstream theories are notably Eurocentric and state-centric, favoring Western narratives and omitting a history of violence and expropriation that has inflicted colonized people under the purpose of State settlement and also overlooking the capacity of political agency and self-representation of peoples and nations from the East, specially Arabs/Muslims.
