dc:description.abstract

One of the main themes of study in International Security is the classic dichotomy amongst the concepts of Peace and War. Under this spectrum, the United Nation (UN) aims to show juridical/legal mechanisms so that it maintains the peace on a lasting way. The organization proposes a series of measures that regulate the use of force in the international scene. So that peace exists, the States should proceed accepting of responsibilities and inside this perspective of the Just War theory, that predicts the possibility of reaching peace by a state of war, following specific phases. The first concerns the initial phase of war, the jus ad bellum, which deals with justice prerogatives of going to war. The second is the jus in bello, which concerns the justice in war, and lastly, the jus post bellum which concerns the post-war justice. All of these phases promote a debated related to the justified use of force in the armed conflict. In this discussion, this paper aims to debate the Brazilian responsibility in the Stabilization Mission of the United Nations in Haiti, the MINUSTAH, which completed ten years of work in 2014. The main purpose is to debate the Brazilian responsibilities as leader of MINUSTAH in the post-conflict in Haiti, having as apparatus the elements of jus post bellum which concerns the right/justice post-war.
