The use of oral antineoplastic agents have been shown to decrease the risk of recurrence and mortality, and therefore, adherence to treatment is critical to achieve the expected results. This study aims to evaluate the importance of pharmaceutical care in treatment adherence with anastrozole in an oncological hospital in João Pessoa. It is a descriptive, cross-sectional, prospective and retrospective study. it had as sample 71 women with breast cancer using anastrozole, attended the outpatient clinic of the hospital. A structured questionnaire was administered to these patients. A guidance on how to take the medicine was given and it was delivered explanatory flyers for the same patients. The Morisky and Green test was used for evaluating adherence, and was used a retrospective analysis of Anastrozole withdrawal records for patients, in the period from September 2014 to August 2015. The test Morisky and Green demonstrated the result of only 38% adherence of patients to treatment with the anastrozole. Forgetting is the most common factor reported by patients. The results in relation to historical retrospective withdrawal of Anastrozole, obtained the result of 97% adherence to treatment. The implementation of pharmaceutical care is needed and better monitoring of the treatment of these patients in order to monitor the following Pharmacotherapeutic, aiming to obtain better adherence rates and ensure a more effective treatment, consequently bringing greater survival rate and lives of women with breast cancer.","abstract_html":"The breast cancer is the most prevalent in the world and the most common among women.
