Paleografia e manuscritos: do passado ao contemporâneo.

Through exploratory research, analyzes the conditions of the researchers in conducting research using handwritten documents of public and private institutional archives and personal and familiar archives from being viewed from perspective of Paleography, diagnosing the relation between them. It is adopted the semi-structured questionnaire as technique of data collection and quantitative analysis as result of the profile of researchers, most female, age range between 20 and 60 years, and their knowledge areas are History, Archivology, Librarianship and Information Science. The collect data about handwritten and your relation with Paleography was analyzed, in a quantitative work that uses content analysis, in order to comprehend the meaning of the given answers. It is noted that the researchers has conscious about the necessity of the Paleography as technique to reading and transcription of the handwritten documents and there is a very important and close relation between them. Therefore, it is concluded that knowing Paleography is necessary to the researcher because it enables him to develop his researches with efficiency and without mistakes. It is suggested to look for a skilled professional or a specialized one (Paleographer) or be interest in specific literature to the development of these activities, in a way that there is not difficulties in theircomprehension. Lastly, it is expected that Paleography take the place that it deserves in undergraduate courses of Archivology and History, and that the professionals of these areas worry about the preservation, maintenance and conservation of documents that, in last instance, tell the history of mankind.
