A miopia do olhar: representações sociais dos alunos de Arquivologia e Biblioteconomia da UFPB a respeito do curso de Arquivologia e da profissão arquivística

The present study is a result of a research accomplished in the Federal University of Paraíba involving students of librarianship and Archival Science about their social representations in relation to the archivist profession. As regards the methodology, the research was based on a quanti-qualitative perspective, and as to the analytical assumptions, Laurence Bardin´s content analysis was adopted as theoretical fundamentals in the construction of the analysis categories; and quantitatively, the focus was on data processing. Thus, the fundamentals, based on literature, corroborate the construction of this study. In this sense, the Theory of Social Representations as well as the Professional one and the Professional Jurisdiction one, pertaining to the Archival Science in an international, national and local scope, in the theoretical aspect of research, revealed for the Archival Science students a post-modern social representation of both this Science and the archivist; in opposition to the social representations of the Librarianship‟s students who perceive the Archival Science and its professional in a traditional way.
