Therefore, it is necessary to preserve and conserve their collection in order to amplify lifespan. The research aims to diagnose the situation of preservation and conservation of the collection of Juarez da Gama Batista State Library. It is characterized as a descriptive and exploratory research, with quantitative and qualitative approaches to the realization of the analysis. The studied universe was formed by three employees of the mentioned library. Questionnaire was used as research tool. The data appoint that the interviewees consider important the process of preservation of the library collection, and they consider good the conditions of preservation and of installation of the collection. It is concluded that, in order to improve and preserve the collection of Juarez da Gama Batista State Library, it is needed to implement a preservation of collection policy.
