A História da Matemática como recurso metodológico: pesquisando a prática dos professores de Baía Formosa/RN.

The present work had as general objective to examine the history of mathematics is being used in the classroom as a methodological resource in the teaching and learning of Mathematics by teachers of the municipality of Baía Formosa - RN. For that we have chosen based on some theorists like Miguel and Miorim (2011), D’Ambrosio (1999), Mendes (1997), Miguel (1997), among others. The research was compiled as a case study, qualitative and exploratory nature. To achieve the objective we developed a questionnaire for data collection, which was applied to four math teachers of elementary school and high school in the municipality of Baía Formosa - RN. In order to contribute to the practice of teachers from the reflection and search for methods that can help and enrich the teaching-learning process of the students. The survey results showed that the use of the history of mathematics is restricted to what is presented in textbooks the main reason the little knowledge of the history of mathematics, caused by the lack of discipline of the history of mathematics in academic courses and training continued. This shows that the history of mathematics, as a teaching strategy is something that is far from the current reality of the teachers in this region.
