Desenvolvimento de catalisador heterogêneo para produção de biodiesel a partir do óleo de algodão

This study aims to develop a heterogeneous catalyst to obtain biodiesel from cottonseed oil. Most of the energy consumed in the world comes from oil, coal and natural gas. With the depletion of energy sources, specifically fossil energy, especially its inability to renewal, it has motivated the development of technologies that allow the use of renewable energy sources. Biodiesel can be treated as one of the main alternatives of renewable energy. Thus, the study carried out to characterize the ash derived from burning of sugarcane bagasse by X-ray fluorescence using the X-ray signals to excite an unknown sample. Fluorescence pointed to a content of 83.15% SiO2 silicon oxide in the ash, this post, the gray was synthesized by impregnation method with MgO. The transesterification is influenced by the properties of the oil used, so cottonseed oil passed the tests acid value, moisture content and the saponification index showing the acidity value a little above the 2 mg KOH / g of oil, as well as the moisture content above 0.5% and had a viscosity of 33,37mm2 / s. The transesterification reactions were performed in a parr reactor (working at room temperature) and a system adapted (working at 60 ° C), both with oil molar ratio: 1:12 ethanol using 25 ml of commercial cotton oil, 300 ml of methanol, 1.25G of the synthesized catalyst. For the transesterification reaction the catalyst showed the highest efficiency for MgO by impregnation method of obtaining a mass in 64% yield using the Parr reactor in the transesterification reaction. The reactions were conducted viable for obtaining biodiesel.
