The analysis of a biological material is of great interest to a number of areas, including the pharmaceutical field. In these analyzes are made the detection and / or quantification of substances of interest , which are the analytes and biomarkers. The biological matrices are highly complex and have endogenous or exogenous components, which can interfere with the search for the analyte of interest. The effects caused by the interfering compounds are called matrix effect, and can be circumvented or mitigated by preparing biological samples techniques. Because of this, extraction techniques are per formed in an attempt to eliminate the components that cause the matrix effect by making the appropriate specimen for analysis and detection and / or quantification of the analyte. It is a time consuming step and determining and should be selected according to some criteria related to the sample, the analyte and chromatographic techniques. Each type of matrix has different components that should also be prepared in accordance with the types of interfering. In this work, the analysis was made of 22 articles a nd extracted information from them as : biological matrix used, extraction technique, chromatographic method, detection limit, lower limit of quantification (LOD and LIQ), recovery, correlation coefficient. The most frequently biological matrices used are b lood and urine, which has been proved in the evaluation of articles, in which most used these types of arrays. The most common techniques are liquid - liquid extraction (LLE), solid phase extraction (SPE), protein precipitation (PPT), solid phase microextrac tion (SPME) and liqu id phase microextraction (LPME). A mong them , the most used in the SPE , present in 8 articles, from 22. selected articles. The SPE proved to be the most effective when the sample is a biological m atrix, with satisfactory LIQ and LOD, for example LI Q: 0.3 pg / mL and LOD: 2.5 pg / ml. Some articles had other types of preparation techniques, more or less sophisticated used, such as RAM technique (restricted access material) present in 4 articles . Some parameters are used to optimize the pro cess, such as stirring, the temperature increase, salt addition, the use of high pressure and the choice of optimal solvent. All extraction methods have proven effective in eliminating interfering, since the analysis of the values of LIQ and LOD, w ith sa tisfactory values, the correlation coefficient values all close to 1, prove the reliability of the analysis. In addition to the high recovery values, except in two papers in the selected extraction method was the LLE, which showed low recovery values (45.1 and 60%). Each analysis shall be assessed separately according to their characteristics, to choose the ideal extraction method.
